HOPE

LONG, LONG WAYS TO GO

Words don't come easy
To those with no hope.
And a king can't sign a treaty
When he's lost the war.
Things don't have to be pretty;
Even blind men already know
We've still got a long, long ways to go.

Art has no meaning
To those with no soul.
And life is too easy
For those who aren't poor.
I can't stand to get up out of my bed.
I feel like I'm getting so old!
But we still have a long, long ways to go.

Peoples and nations,
Rich men and gold.
Will the children be ready
To take control?
What words shall I leave for them
Inscribed on my headstone?

"We've still got a long, long ways to go"
We've still got a very long ways to go, I hope.
